This is how I picture our Wilbur:

Delta Airlines plane flies INTO Hurricane Irma: Daring pilot dodges storm to land in Puerto Rico - before dropping off all the passengers and heading back to JFK in just 51 minutes

  • Delta Flight 431 flew direct from New York to San Juan on Wednesday morning
  • Flight went directly into path of Hurricane Irma and landed safely 7 minutes early
  • Crew were able to drop off passengers, re-board and depart just 51 minutes later
  • Remarkable photos of the storm show how the plane had to weave in between the outer bands to avoid turbulence

A daring Delta Airlines pilot dodged Hurricane Irma to land in Puerto Rico - before dropping off all the passengers and heading back to JFK in just 51 minutes.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled due to the storm, but the crew for Delta flight 431 decided they were up for the challenge.

The plane, in order to get in one last flight to and from the island before the storm hit, flew directly from New York to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and then quickly turned around and came back.

Both flights were able to land in their respective destinations before schedule.

DeathJim we need your help here.  If Wilbur/Sam/Whatever does not get airborne by noon on Friday what are his chances of survival?  5% 7%?

Depends what his portable kayak is made of. Also does the aforementioned portable kayak have a stocked pantry and wine cellar?
