ChrisL Posted September 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2017 On our ride today I felt a searing pain on my thigh just below my shorts, looked down and there was a bee on me and the little basturd got me..... I flicked it off, pulled out the stinger all the while continuing to ride... Noticed it didn't even leave a mark. I think that was my 1st bee sting in over 20 years...
groupw Posted September 25, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2017 Group ride about 5 years ago. I see a small black ball fly through the air and bounce off my inner thigh. Just as I realize it was a bumble bee, I feel the stinger in my thigh! Mind you we are in the Sandhills. No buildings or even trees for miles and with this being a co-ed ride, dropping my shorts was not an option. Had to ride about 15 miles before I had a place to take it out in relative dignity! 1
UglyBob Posted September 25, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2017 I ran into a swarm of bees one and ended up with half a dozen going into the vents on my helmet. It's a good thing I always ride with a cap under the helmet, because it's the only thing that kept me from being stung.
F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted September 25, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2017 Bee, or wasp? Wasps tend to get belligerent this time of year and sting without provocation.
Guest Posted September 25, 2017 Share #5 Posted September 25, 2017 Last week I was unloading some lumber near one of our poll barns at work. About halfway through I got swarmed by bald- faced hornets. Probably 4-5 stings on top of my head. That same night I open the doors on our storage barn at home and get swarmed by about a million cluster flies. Talk about PTSD?
