UglyBob Posted September 28, 2017 Share #10 Posted September 28, 2017 I don't get them any more. I always end up with a reaction at the injection site and a fever, so my doc doesn't give it to me. I've had the flu a few times (got H1-N1 the year it went around), but I haven't died yet, so I've got that going for me...

BuffJim Posted September 28, 2017 Share #14 Posted September 28, 2017 I got mine. Had the flu in 1996, and don't want to go through that again. Also very susceptible to Pneumonia, which my flu turned into last time.
maddmaxx ★ Posted September 28, 2017 Share #15 Posted September 28, 2017 When my wife was in chemo it was mandatory for me to have the shot to go with her and highly recommended just to live in the same home. Her immune system couldn't stand having a sick spouse around. I've gotten one every year since then. No flue. No reaction.

ChrisL Posted September 28, 2017 Share #18 Posted September 28, 2017 I haven't had one in ages. I tend to get a mild flu every 2 years or so and a bad case of it every 4-5 years but I survive it just fine and am on my feet in a couple of days. Kirby Posted September 28, 2017 Share #19 Posted September 28, 2017 I plan to get one when they have the flu shot clinic at work in a couple weeks. If I miss that day for some reason, the group my doctor belongs to has walk in clinics for flu shots every day during fall/winter.

MickinMD ★ Posted September 28, 2017 Share #31 Posted September 28, 2017 I'm getting mine on my Oct. diabetes blood test followup. I didn't get one the first two years I was a teacher and caught the flu each year. I've gotten it every year since and retired with 175 unused sick days. I highly recommend it, especially if you come in contact with lots of people - especially sick students who stick their nose 6" from your face and say, "I feel sick." I also got the booster for the pneumonia shot (most people who "die" from the flu, actually die from pneumonia) and the shingles shot a year ago.
