Popular Post tybeegb Posted October 8, 2017 Popular Post Share #1 Posted October 8, 2017 After the last hurricane, WofTy had me take my truck and go pick up a handmade "platform" someone threw out. She wanted me to make a "floating dock" out of it. Well the current floatation stuff is way too expensive for a piece of crap "platform". I couldn't find any torn up Styrofoam in the marshes. Anywhere. So, I went to Home Depot and got six of their "Let's Do This" buckets and they fit perfectly between the cross pieces. Just added some 2/4 pieces across the lids to hold them in place and viola. I did not get a picture of the four 12 year olds who put it through it's paces last weekend, but it held together and was graded "Awesome!" by all. It's anchored to the bottom and the brown float thingy is there for when the kayak is anchored in the creek.

The lids on those things are super tight and have a big o-ring seal to boot. Then again if I did that and they did pop open that would be a nightmare.

Hence it not being attached to anything and being called a "platform". Not saying they won't come by and tell me to remove it, but until then, it stays.

smudge ★ Posted October 9, 2017 Share #11 Posted October 9, 2017 Buckets??!! BRILLIANT! I use them to store brewing grains. You are right; they have a nice o-ring and seal very tightly. BRILLIANT!
Parr8hed Posted October 9, 2017 Share #12 Posted October 9, 2017 You need some horses out in that marsh. You could charge a small fortune for horse tours.

I mean, it's not like it's got your name and address painted on it, or something.

He's not letting that get away from him.
