Ever feel so wasted that you could just crash out but know you won't be allowed to sleep for at least 24 hours and you have 10 more physically grinding evolutions to finish before the "day" is done?  Ever been so tired you've slept standing up?

Anything I've done since I hung it up has been less than taxing when compared to what we did before but awesome work and well done!  Enjoy your rest!

I have never been forced to stay awake.  My life has been very sheltered.

Thank you for your service.  The only service I have done is volunteer community type work.   When we get to Oakieville, I would like to volunteer at the fish hatchery and of course for trail work. Both seem very rewarding.  I like fishies and trail.

I love this.

I know the feeling but tend to get RLS with workouts so that keeps me awake.  A good workout feels great though.

Yes.

Then a few years later I did 32 consecutive flying hours air ambulance when there was a train wreck near Edson Alberta.  The last decent into Vancouver both of us pilots were falling asleep about once a minute.  Woken only by the overspeed warning.  Fun times. NOT.

Based on tour conversation with Chris, I'm assuming there is a context to your question I may not be aware of. However to answer at face value, yes, most definitely. I have worked out to the point of throwing up, heat exhaustion, near heart attack and I continue to do so.  Nor sure why. But it's who I am.

I haven’t had that feeling after that kind of workout since my wife had six months of chemo.

This is why I pretty much always ride alone.  I love turning myself inside out.  It is weird but if I have anything left at the end of a ride, I feel like I cheated.

Done it way more at work than at play, though.  20-22hour days, literally a couple hours sleep and start all over again.  It is awful during but after it is done it feels pretty good to sink into that bed and just go 'Ahhhhhh....'

I am finding the older I get the less fun it is though

I'm more sadistic than masochistic, but to each their own.

I don't personally, but mistress Wanda seems to really get into it.

You impress me.

I have to agree that the aging thing makes it more difficult.  When I push really hard, sometimes there is pain the next day.  Oh, how I wish I had appreciated my body more in my 20's and 30's.  I may have done more extreme events, had I known that they would be too hard or near impossible later in life.  These days, I have to use caution.  If I go for too hard of an endurance event, my MS can flare up.

Actually pushing it past the end?  I remember HS football 2 a days.  I remember being pushed to the point of throwing up.  With others all around me throwing up I never actually did throw up.  I guess my wiring is different.  I remember being on the field and wishing I could.  I also remember heading to the locker room knowing you had to come back and do it all over again in the afternoon heat.  Thoughts on hydration were different then as well.  Water was for sissies.  You hit the water fountain on the way to your car AFTER you showered and left the locker room.  Real men didn't need water.

And then I remember the follow up conditioning drills for basketball that started the Monday after the last FB game.  You were not allowed to throw up on the gym floor.
