Kzoo Posted October 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2013 I rode a 40 mile loop through southwest Michigan that included part of Michigan Grape Country. I was joined by a friend that I haven't had the chance to ride with yet this year. The weather was wonderful - about 70* with a slight breeze. The vineyards that we rode through was the east side of the southwest Michigan grape area. This was concord grape country. Other wine grapes are grown just west of the area we rode. The scent of concord grapes was in the air. It smelled like the inside of a Welches grape juice jar. Absolutely wonderful!! I took a few pics to share. The guy I rode with was not interested in stoping for pics so I only got a few. It's harvest season. Some of the vineyards had pickers running through them. Some areas had grapes as far as the eye could see.

shotgun Posted October 1, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 1, 2013 It's a great time to ride, isn't it, when you can smell the grapes like that.
goldendesign Posted October 1, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 1, 2013 Long while back I lived in Holland MI, around the corner from the Heinz pickle plant. This time of year the permeated smell of vinegar starts to change to actual pickle smell. Only upside to that area was you saved a fortune on cologne an perfume.
