Ralphie ★ Posted November 18, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 18, 2017 Man, this is late - the first substantial leaves I've raked this year. The good news is our township FINALLY has curbside leaf pickup, and it is next week. The bad news is I'm getting too old to rake! My body is protesting vociferously. Should I get a blower? Maybe a battery pack one since the gas ones stink and are obnoxiously loud.

Maybe a battery pack one since the gas ones stink and are obnoxiously loud. We sell blowers. If you're asking me, I'd recommend the biggest hand held gas powered blower you can find. A backpack blower is hard to take on and off, and a small electric blower will take too long. Did someone mention moving leaves? I've been using a loader to move leaves in the rain. The municipalities dump them here, and I've been moving them into rows. We use another machine to turn the rows several more times during the winter. Next spring they'll be leaf mulch and later compost. A little glimpse into the exciting world of compost management. Or, where your leaves go after you rake them to the curb.
Kirby Posted November 18, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2017 There are downsides to living in a condo, but not having to deal with snow or leaves isn't one of them. 2
BR46 Posted November 18, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 18, 2017 This is how my son deals with leaves. I don't know where he gets it from.
Further Posted November 19, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2017 I try running them over with the mower, but usually end up having to rake at least some. My trees have barely started to drop them. The pin oak in the back yard won't totally lose its leaves till spring, when the new buds push out.

Ralphie ★ Posted November 19, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted November 19, 2017 After a little recovery time, I feel much mo better, so I might just stick with the rake for a few more years.
Longjohn ★ Posted November 19, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 19, 2017 I thought about running the leaves over with the zero turn. I don’t know how much it would compact them into the bagger. I never do anything with my leaves so really why start now? It might make a nice mulch for the garden though. Can’t do anything unless it quits raining for a few days.
