I remember it not handling well, but it wasn't that kind of car.

When they were done with them there wasn't much left.
team scooter Posted November 23, 2017 Share #7 Posted November 23, 2017 My parents had one of these, same color. Then I bought it when I got my licence, but I dont remember why? Pretty great car though. Fit a lot of kids for the drive in movies. When cars were cars and big and heavy. Not transportation appliances.
BuffJim Posted November 23, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 23, 2017 So Scooter was parked next to us. We had a yellow Buick Station wagon like that in the 70’s. With the rear seat that faced out. 9 MPG
donkpow Posted November 23, 2017 Share #9 Posted November 23, 2017 Me and the gang used to sit in the tree in the front yard next to a busy street. When one of us spotted a "woody", he could haul off and sucker punch the guy next to him in the arm.

Longjohn ★ Posted November 23, 2017 Share #11 Posted November 23, 2017 Now you’re talking. My dad bought a 1956 Chevy Nomad station wagon with a V8 automatic. Brand new. He only kept it four years and traded it in on a dodge wagon with push button automatic, big mistake.

I used it more than he did hauling my motorcycles to the races.
Ralphie ★ Posted November 23, 2017 Share #14 Posted November 23, 2017 We had a couple! I vaguely remeber riding in a Vista Cruiser once, but it must have been borrowed or rented or something. Then was a 1966 dark blue Pontiac - not sure of the model but it had those nice vertical headlights and beautiful chrome gauges inside. Something had happened to the pain so it was all gritty and dull - absolutely horrible! The damn thing always smelled like exhaust too and not just a little! Even so, we loved it for going to the kart races, pulling a trailer and packed with equipment and people. Later on it developed a problem where the automatic transmission would not shift oot of second until aboot 70 MH! Bizarre, but ultimately fun for teenagers! The downside is that it would then stay in the high gear at low speeds. Totlal POS but so ful of character since it looked a lot like a GTO. Then the last was a 70s blue cheby with a 350 V8 and 3 on the column. Man, was that fun! That car could really move. Sadly we only had it for a short while.

Very handy Cool, but weren;t those things dangerous because they could break your arm when the car started up?
