Razors Edge ★ Posted February 22, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2018 ...by Jan Heine on his blog. He is always interesting to read and seems to find neat historical info that isn't readily available to most of us. In any case, this latest is about tire treads, but he has several earlier posts and will be updating with newer ones over the next few weeks. Many years ago he was one of the few outspoken "wide tires at low pressure" proponents, and obviously, if you visit a shop in the past decade, you can see was right on target. Page Turner Posted February 25, 2018 Share #2 Posted February 25, 2018 ...wide tyres at low pressure are stupid if you want to go fast. The reason you see it in shops and all over the place is that everyone is drinking the same Kool-Aid.

I've yet to race in a velodrome, so I'm happy with the wider & lower pressure route for my riding these days. A little less jarring and plenty fast. donkpow Posted February 27, 2018 Share #5 Posted February 27, 2018 I dropped a dude with skinny tires. The paved trail was closed so I rode my bike up the grassy hill while he pushed his bike up the hill.
