A buddy has a mid 80s Sachs he loves, but he did the unthinkable (to purists) - upgraded to from old Campy to new (then) 10 sp Campy Ergo set up. I spoke to Sachs a few years back at the NAHBS in Richmond. Since it was a quiet part of the day, he was very chatty. Had a whole few of his cross bikes - grime and all - on display.
