It's all fun and games until you get the osteomyelitis.  Nobody wants the osteomyelitis.

But you gotta realize that I am used to dealing with old people with the diabeetus and the kidney failure and the "vessel disease".  I have seen a lot of small wounds on the bottom of feet and some fingers that never heal and end up septic.  Just in the past year I have seen a foot, a leg and two fingers have to come off from what started as a small wound.
