You know it's going to cost more to repair than bu ing a new one riight?

Yes, but you know how long buying a new one takes!  And with technology, the sliding window of improvement provides a big challenge!  Just get one researched, and bam, there is a new model!

Yes.  I bought a new desktop wrapped around a gaming computer tower and outfitted with windows 10 a couple of years ago but I don't use much of that power now that I don't do the design work I did when working.  Right now I'm typing on a several year old Chromebook that serves the laptop/access to the internet niche.  In fact it's so old that about 5 of the keys have the letters rubbed off.  I suspect that many folks don't need more than this.  Computing power in a laptop seems to come at a premium price.  I prefer the expandable desktop with a cheap laptop for mobile work more serious than my phone/tablet/Kindle.
