TrentonMakes Posted March 23, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2018 Wednesday morning I watched it snowing, checked the forecast, and decided that I would just stay home and work a few hours if I could. But I wasn't ready to work yet, and I said to myself "Aha! This is the perfect opportunity to fix the rear wheel on my road bike!" You all will surely remember that a January road ride was foiled when I realized a spoke had fully loosened and was rolling around inside the rim. (At the same time I resolved to find a new shop to maintain this wheel, which admittedly is tasked with a big job.) So I took the wheel down in the basement, removed the tire and tube, and peeled back the rim tape to the offending spoke. Project was proceeding smoothly! And then I realized: I didn't hear that nipple rolling around in there anymore. Looked on the workbench, on the floor..... nowhere to be found. dammit. So my road bike is still out of commission.
