Longjohn ★ Posted May 17, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2018 Old Lee doesn’t know anything about twins does he? Shouldn’t that be “Trouble shared is trouble doubled”?
Ralphie ★ Posted May 17, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2018 That sonofabitch sure shared his troubles with me when I bought one of his cars in the mid 80s, like an idi0t. 1

IMO it was him and covered the sharing of the K-car chassis between both Plymouth and Dodge.

I'm getting an education here and learning that he's the US equivalent of Joseph Lucas in the car industry.
donkpow Posted May 17, 2018 Share #8 Posted May 17, 2018 Just going from memory, Lee Iacocca did good things for Ford. Then he got hired by Chrysler and saved their ass by getting congress to bail them out. He finally became eternally grateful to the US government for their assistance. I respect this man. Lee's high point was the creation of the Mustang and the pony car concept. His low points were the Pinto and a series of mundane Chrysler Corp offerings that while they kept Chrysler from going bankrupt, did nothing for the advancement of interesting autos. Getting the government to bail Chrysler out was politics, not leadership. Just IMO

ChrisL Posted May 17, 2018 Share #11 Posted May 17, 2018 Didn't the K car and Govt assistance keep them a float but the Minivan is what saved Chrysler which came out shortly after the K car. We had those POS K Cars as patrol vehicles for garrison use as an MP. What a terrible car.

Ie the bailout? He put a heckuva a good face to a heckuva bad situation. And he did the whole Statue of Liberty fix, too???? Tom
