MickinMD ★ Posted June 7, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 7, 2018 I going to cycle all the way from Sawmill Creek Park to Harundale along the Baltimore & Annapolis Bike Trail. They're a level 3 miles apart! Hopefully I'll be up to 25 mile rides with hills by the Fall but I've learned not to push injury recoveries too fast! Be careful!

Kzoo Posted June 7, 2018 Share #8 Posted June 7, 2018 What's the worst that can happen? And if that does..... you won't be around to deal with it. If you need any more encouragement, just ask. ?
Page Turner Posted June 7, 2018 Share #9 Posted June 7, 2018 ...just pace yourself, and gear down when you have to. Stay hydrated, don't bonk, and make sure you look around and enjoy the ride.
donkpow Posted June 7, 2018 Share #10 Posted June 7, 2018 The is a little known scientific phenomenon that occurs on large group rides. It is popularly known as the "ambition vortex". It is the thing that gives riders super human strength during the event. The "ambition vortex" spawns several lesser known vortices that influence rider behavior.

You'll double your mileage in a week during the ride! You'll be OK. Just take Page Turner's advice about keeping hydrated. A few years ago we had 6 people go to the hospital from being dehydrated on the first day. Did you get your ride package?

Dottleshead ★ Posted June 7, 2018 Share #13 Posted June 7, 2018 I'm going to be the voice of doom. There's no way in hell you're going to make it. Really glad the ride is sagged so you don't take down those around you. ???

Dottleshead ★ Posted June 7, 2018 Share #17 Posted June 7, 2018 Yeah, it's been a slow couple years for me too, Petite. I'd be sagging at the end. The heat alone would wipe me out.

tybeegb Posted June 8, 2018 Share #21 Posted June 8, 2018 So what exactly is "optimum physical condition"? And what about the masochists; would that not take the fun out of the ride if there was no suffering? ? 2
