Popular Post Further Posted June 18, 2018 Popular Post Share #1 Posted June 18, 2018 Sam was a mixed Cocker I had adopted. We were walking the woods at the sportsman club I belonged to. We got back to the parking lot, adjoining the trap range. There were a couple shooting clay birds using one of those little spring loaded launchers to throw the clays. I said hello and we chatted bit. They asked if Sam was gunshy, I didn't know. They pulled the string, launched and shot the bird At the noise of the launcher Sam panicked, when the gun fired he jumped in the open rear hatch of their Explorer, and jumped into the drivers seat. I said that I hoped they took the keys cause Sam was leaving. Sam was a great little dog. 1 3
Longjohn ★ Posted June 18, 2018 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2018 Not exactly a hunting dog. My dad had a Cocker that loved to hunt. If she saw my dad in hunting clothes or carrying a shotgun she got so excited. After she passed away we used to hunt at my uncle’s place. He also had a Cocker who was getting up in years. When we showed up they would let her out of the house to go hunting with us. She was good for the first hour, then she would fall in behind us walking in our tracks. Cockers are great dogs. 1

They had the sense bred out of them, but there are some hunting stock Cockers available.
Longjohn ★ Posted June 18, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 18, 2018 Both of these dogs were good hunters in their day but by the time I was old enough to hunt Ginger was well past her prime, so was my uncle's dog. They truly loved to hunt even in their old age.
