Popular Post MickinMD Posted July 4, 2018 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 4, 2018 We had a fine morning today, the Fourth of July, and did some cruising and fishing. It's raining this afternoon - hopefully it will clear and we'll see fireworks tonight. So I'm looking out at the lake through the raindrops and making this report. Here's me fishing the shallows, using top-of-the-water lures: today used a Whopper Flopper (on the line in pic 3), yesterday Zoom Baby Bass Flukes. The whole area's stores are now out of minnows! More fishing. We did great Tuesday, but the fish celebrated Independence Day by avoiding our lures while we tried to avoid being distracted by Grace's patriotic swimsuit. The warm day made a little cruising a must: Monday was my day to cook: I decided on baked chicken thighs/legs, mac & cheese and green beans. The one thing everyone was impressed by was the chicken seasoning. I originally planned to make my own homemade, excellent BBQ sauce, but that was too much bother for vacation so I took a chance on a seasoning I hadn't tried before but saw a big jar at Walmart, Weber Dry Rub, Original. I added it at the end because I had 18 lbs of thighs and legs ($1.29/lb at the local Walmart!) baking, cramped together in 2 large pans, and didn't know how much extra time I'd need to get to 170F. It is excellent, try it: 4
