Popular Post dinneR Posted July 8, 2018 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 8, 2018 I had a four day weekend, so I rode another section of the Great Divide route. This time I went to Red Rock Lakes NWR and back. I rode through some beautiful country and met some great people. 330 miles 12,750 ft. of ascent/descent. 125 miles on day one, 50 miles day two, 82 miles day 3, and 77 miles day 4. The roads were mostly gravel with a fair amount of pavement. 4 days, 3 states, I'm whipped. Top of the pass. Yellowstone rail tunnel Warm River Continental divide RRL NWR Bitch creek Heading for those mountains This baby moose ran out in front of me. I was looking for the cow. Fortunately she was off the trail. 6

Zephyr Posted July 8, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 8, 2018 And by riding it north, you are doing it the hard way because it is all uphill. I am most jealous. The CD is one of those epic things.., just lurking out there.

The CD is one of those epic things.., just lurking out there. A friend of mine is riding it now. It looks like he will finish tomorrow. He is giving concerts along the way and making a movie about his trip. I don't know if I'd ever ride it start to finish. It takes too much time and I don't have enough vacation. I did meet a number of riders during my travels. When I got to Warm River the CG host said the site was full but I could pitch my tent in his site. We had fancy drinks, burgers, and I got a free haircut. He said he had been following the racers. Many stopped and he put them up. One guy was terrified of bears so he slept in the bathroom with the door locked. I've ridden 265 miles of the route. That section has an elevation gain of over 15,000 ft according to googlemaps.
