Funeral on Saturday for my Aunt on the mainland (My mom lost two sisters in three days this week) :(  I am planting a fig tree on Sunday, stripping my old bike down to get the frame repaired and getting ready for a two week road trip with my wife to Kelowna (wine country here) to Edmonton so we can leave on Monday

I normally look forward to the weekend, but not when it's the end of my week of vacation. :(  So I'll be driving home, unpacking, doing laundry, grocery shopping  and trying to get ready for the work week ahead.   If I get home early on Saturday and do all my chores, I may go visit my Mom and sisters on Sunday and give them their souvenirs.

How much adjustment time do you need for your cat?  Do you still have the same cat sitter you did a while back?

My current cat sitter is a woman who lives in my condo complex and who used to work at my vet's office.  She's sweet and competent, and as far as I can tell, normal.  Before her I had a woman who came once a week even when I wasn't traveling (at that time my job involved more travel and I wanted someone who felt committed to the cat and that I could count on to come at the last minute and would always fit my cat into her schedule).  She was incredibly nice, but a little wacky. She'd do house projects when I went away for a week.  One time I came home to find a saying posted over my fireplace.  It looked like it was painted on, but apparently it's some sort of stick on lettering.  Another time she put a set of shelves up in my bathroom.   She eventually moved to be closer to her daughter, but we still keep in touch.

Going to the Paris of America for the weekend. Casino Saturday, Indians game Sunday. My friend wants to see the bare naked ladies Sunday night. I was excited til I found out that it’s not what it sounds like.

Home on Monday.

Will you be staying at the Paris Hilton?

Not this time. Hampton Cleveland I think. It’s right downtown.

I did stay at the Paris Hilton near the Eiffel Tower on business trip. Tried the rear entrance, but didn’t have the right key.

This sort of understated humor just blows me away.

It is borrowed from a Jimmy Fallon Saturday Night Live interview with Paris Hilton.

Borrowed is fine. I worked with a guy that was always coming up with the funniest things. Whenever someone would try to complement him on being so clever/funny he always said he wasn’t funny but just remembers funny stuff he has heard over the years and knows when to apply it.

Try to pick up some Malleys while you are there!

i forget exactly, something like "May the warm winds of heaven blow on all who live here".  I can check for sure when I get home since I left it up.

I’m getting a full body massage this morning and going with my brother this evening to an ice cream festival. My dad was always excited about this annual ice cream thing. It’s put on by the Guernsey association and it’s all home made ice cream.  A good friend of my dad’s raised Guernsey cows and that is where my dad always bought milk. I like their ice cream but not as much as my brother. It’s all you can eat and he always gets his money’s worth. ( he has normal cholesterol and doesn’t take medication) I would guess my brother eats close to a gallon of ice cream tonight.

You need to tell us about this ice cream festival further in advance next time!!

If you like ice cream it is truly amazing. They don’t use ice cream scoops to serve it. They use stainless steel gardening scoops. I would guess their smallest serving is at least a pint. They have farm kids going from table to table serving coffee and drinks and asking if anyone is ready for seconds, thirds, whatever.

No plans.  The road bikes need a little TLC so I'll have them on the stand.  My car is pretty funky so I'll wash it.  Normal chores.

on the fence for riding. Saddle sore is mostly healed up and no longer raw but there is still a bump.  Maybe a few more days...?

Wife and I are going to Duluth Trading after dinner to pick up some Dry on the Fly shorts. They are 20% off.

Saturday I'm working at the credit union until 1:00, our department provides back office support for the branch offices open on Saturday. This weekend is my turn. Work at the LBS 1:30 to 6:00.

Sunday, we're buying mulch for the garden then son and I are driving down to Fredericksburg to pick up his Jeep.

My mother was the youngest of 9 children and didn't have me until she was 26 so most of my many first-cousins are much older than my 67 years.

One of the younger ones who is still alive and active and to whom I'm close has a surprise 80th birthday party in Wilkes-Barre, PA tomorrow, Saturday at 2 pm.

It's a 3 1/2 - 4 hour drive including a couple pit stops, depending on how much road work they're doing on the mountain part of I-81, so I'm leaving at 9:00 am tomorrow with my my USB stick drive plugged into my car's USB connector and loaded up with Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler, Ray Charles, Kenny Rogers, The Kingston Trio, The Seekers, and a bunch of other mostly oldies. I'm spending the night at another cousin's, spending Sunday with yet more cousins, then driving home Sunday evening unless we decide to hit the casinos in the nearby Pocono Mountains.
