jsharr ★ Posted August 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2018 He was not happy to be up and going to school while his brother slept in. They go to different schools and have different start dates.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted August 13, 2018 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2018 I feel your son's pain; he is suffering a great injustice that will only be corrected when his brother begins classes of his own. I think it really sucks to begin the school year before Labor Day; there oughta be a law.
ChrisL Posted August 13, 2018 Share #3 Posted August 13, 2018 My son starts classes in a couple of weeks. He's working a crap ton of hours over the summer which I'm happy about as he's got a full load next semester and won't be able to work a lot of hours. My son is at a Local JC now but his district was on more traditional schedule and started the 2nd week of Sept but went through mid June.

Yep, but our ISD voted, both parents, students and staff and agreed to start earlier to end earlier. They still go to school the same number of days,
Airehead Posted August 13, 2018 Share #7 Posted August 13, 2018 I believe that @Parr8hed's young'uns are on the year round school deal and have been back for several weeks.

The other son's school is on year round. They take an early summer break, go for a month in the middle of the summer, then take a late summer break that ends this week. They go back on Monday of next week.
Razors Edge ★ Posted August 13, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 13, 2018 BWAHAHAHAHAHA! My FAVORITE day of the year is the first day of school for kids. Followed by the second, then the third, and repeated until the little felons are let loose again at the end of Spring. Tom

Page Turner Posted August 13, 2018 Share #11 Posted August 13, 2018 ....clearly, starting school in the middle of August will give the district plenty of leeway for all those snow days.

Tom The traffic on my commute is definitely less during the summer, but I still love the signs of school starting again, because it means (or at least it used to mean) autumn is on the way!!! jsharr ★ Posted August 13, 2018 Author Share #16 Posted August 13, 2018 Also, I am a softy. Yesterday, I told him to ask his mom to take him to school on the first day, but apparently she had meetings at her school, so I took him to get kolaches and a coffee and then drove him to school. He got some sort of iced frappacino thing.

I was going to say the same. Back to school means a heavier morning commute but my commute is much more reasonable now so a few extra minutes is no biggie.
