She just went outside and lit up a cigarette.

Addictions are hard.  

I hate cigarettes, and I used to think smokers were stupid idiots with no willpower.  I still think they are stupid idiots for starting in the first place, but a lot of smart people do stupid things.  I am imagining her smoking and the associated cognitive dissonance is causing her considerable stress whenever she actually thinks about it.  She probably has normal willpower.  I hope she can quit someday.

I ran a marathon in under four hours (by 90 seconds) when I was smoking. I did not believe smoking was bad for me because I was so active. I know it is stupid....  Like RG said, addictions are hard.

Well, she could be more like many people - eat like shit and smoke.  At least doing some stuff right is better than doing nothing right.

I understand how hard it is to quit.

I'm a x smoker and kicked the habit a long time ago and it's one of the hardest thing but one of the best things you can do for yourself.
