Forum Administrator Posted September 17, 2018 Share #5 Posted September 17, 2018 Any good recipes? Mine either turn out barely ok or nasty.
petitepedal ★ Posted September 17, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted September 17, 2018 I just googled refrigerator pickles..chose a bread and butter variation. Most of the recipes were very similar.
Mr. Silly Posted September 17, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 17, 2018 My refrigerator pickles are never very good. I live for the day when they improve enough so I can describe them as "Okay"
maddmaxx ★ Posted September 17, 2018 Share #8 Posted September 17, 2018 If I sent you some jalapenos could you get your refrigerator to pickle them too?
Kirby Posted September 17, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 17, 2018 My refrigerator pickles are fine. That's because they came straight from the grocery store.

petitepedal ★ Posted September 18, 2018 Author Share #13 Posted September 18, 2018 These are bread and butter pickles...sweet pickles... Dill Pickles have no sugar. I am not a big fan of sweet pickles...but all the frigerator pickle recipes I found were of the sweet variety...besides I would pay as much for the dill as I did the cucumbers...maybe even more. I use to help my momma make dill pickles...easily 30 quarts went into our basement pantry.
12string Posted September 18, 2018 Share #14 Posted September 18, 2018 I gave up on refrigerator pickles, they just need to sit in the jars longer than that to really get pickled. The peppers and cukes are rolling in now, Did a 8 jars of gherkins last week, about 20 Bread and Butter and dill this weekend. Tried a shortcut on the recipe to use the extra gherkin juice on some Anaheim chilis and serranos -a total failure. I should be getting more serranos in soon, I'll do them right this time. Important tip: cut the tips off the cukes and throw them away. The 1/2 inch on the ends is loaded with an enzyme that makes all the pickles in the jar mushy
