Randomguy Posted September 16, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2018 I have some fresh parsley, but don't really know what it is good to put it in. What should I do?
ChrisL Posted September 16, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2018 Put a sprig on the side of your plate??? That's all I've ever seen it used for.

Airehead Posted September 17, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 17, 2018 Of course then you would have left over dill.
Kirby Posted September 17, 2018 Share #5 Posted September 17, 2018 I was going to say throw it out, but Aire's idea sounds better.
Longjohn ★ Posted September 17, 2018 Share #6 Posted September 17, 2018 I always eat the parsley they put on the plate as a garnish. They don’t expect people to eat it so they probably don’t even wash it.?. I haven’t died yet.
Dirtyhip Posted September 17, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 17, 2018 I use it ass a garnish to top things like polenta. If I have a bunch of it, I add it to yogurt with other fresh herbs and other stuff for a pseudo ranch dressing for salads.

sheep_herder ★ Posted September 17, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 17, 2018 We like to add it to green chile stew, and it adds a bit of zest. I think one can also use lemon juice, but it is definitely bland without the addition of either component.
MickinMD ★ Posted September 17, 2018 Share #10 Posted September 17, 2018 Lidia Bastianich on "Lidia's Italy" on PBS uses it in a lot of dishes as flavor ingredient, sometimes raw, sometimes cooked. But since it doesn't have kick of oregano, thyme, dill, rosemary, etc. I don't bother with it.

Dirtyhip Posted September 17, 2018 Share #13 Posted September 17, 2018 If I have too much left of the fresh stuff, I dry it and use it in things like cheddar bay biscuits.

goldendesign Posted September 17, 2018 Share #15 Posted September 17, 2018 Take pastry dough, chop parsley, crumble feta cheese, and spread a mixture of egg/milk. Layer or roll, I prefer roll, and bake in oven. Turkish Borek. Delicious. Or take red onion, cucumber, tomatoes and parsley. If you have sumac sprinkle on heavy. Add lemon juice, olive oil and salt. Sheppard salad. Turkish food uses it alot. I always have a bundle in the house.
Wilbur ★ Posted September 17, 2018 Share #16 Posted September 17, 2018 It really adds depth to the flavour of soups, stews and veal or chicken piccata. Tabouli as suggested by Aire is also a good way to use it all.
Mr. Silly Posted September 17, 2018 Share #17 Posted September 17, 2018 Chop it up and put it in a salad. It adds a bright freshness to a salad.
