So, when do the kids step up and start doing the cooking and all the other nonsense you patsies are doing for them currently? Aren't they all old enough and experienced enough that you guys are just the chaperones now with nothing to do except make sure they do sheot properly?

They do their own cooking.  I am camp staff.  I cook for the staff.  The scouts eat with their troops.

Ok, wtf does this mean?  As far as I know, Cracker Barrel is a restaurant for those with few options.

"Cracker-barrel refers to something ‘plain, simple, and unsophisticated’, especially of a philosophy. For example: ‘When he came to read the creators of the English realistic novel, he recognized the cracker-barrel philosophy in them at once’. The term has its origins in the country stores of the late 19th-century US, where the barrels of soda crackers ended up being the site of informal discussions between customers. The philosophizing taking place over these cracker barrels would have been, presumably, of the plain and simple sort. "

Locally we had a 12yo Boy Scout die during an outing this week. Sad.

That is horrible.  We lost a local Scout a few years back when he was at Northern Tier and widowmaker fell on his tent in a storm.   Fractures are the worst injuries I have dealt with.  The glamping staff is well trained.  Our staff medic and the camp ranger got the Scout's wrist stablized with a splint and got him to the way to the ER/doctor for xrays and further evaluation and treatment.

12-year-old Boy Scout dies after being buried in sand near Lake Michigan

SOUTH HAVEN, MI - A 12-year-old Boy Scout from the Kalamazoo area died Saturday afternoon in South Haven after he was buried in sand.

The 12-year-old boy was found unresponsive at around 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 just north of Van Buren State Park on Lake Michigan, according to police.

Police have identified the victim as 12-year-old Gage Wilson of Portage.

When police arrived at the scene the victim had been located and scout leaders were preforming CPR, according to police.

The boy was found by a troop leader buried in sand along the Lake Michigan shoreline, according to police. Troop leaders attempted to resuscitate the boy, who was air-lifted to Ascension Borgess Hospital where he was pronounced dead sometime later.

The incident is still under investigation, however, police say it appears it was an accident.
