JerrySTL ★ Posted October 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2018 Doctor doesn't think that my knee needs surgery, but that I should stay off of it as much as possible for 4-6 weeks. Trouble is that I already paid for 2 half marathons in early November. She says that I can ride my bike if it doesn't hurt.

MickinMD ★ Posted October 20, 2018 Share #7 Posted October 20, 2018 Having run marathons, 10K's, etc. and run with the teenagers in my 30's to early 50's when coached high school cross country, I agree with whatever wise man said, "If you run more than 3 miles/day, you're doing it for reasons other than health." Both of my Achilles tendons developed tears - one requiring an operation - and after I retired I wasn't able to run much without having aching Achilles tendons the next day until I added bicycling to the mix - which apparently allowed my tendons to more gently develop solid bonds to the bones with more gentle force than running.
