Razors Edge ★ Posted October 25, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2018 ...can it? Couldn't these brake cables be cut a bit shorter? @No One doesn't set his bikes up like that, does he? Tom
Kzoo Posted October 25, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2018 Can't they be routed a bit differently. On another cycling site a guy proudly showed his new bike. His cables were routed just like this. It was a CF bike with internal routing. The cables were not buried in the bar wrap and looked like your pic. I asked him why the bike cabling looked like that and got some response that made no sense (but neither did the cable routing). I left it alone. In this case, down is better than up. Tom Yeah they can be cut shorter but if they are too short it restricts bar movement and the bigger the loop the more hand room on the top of the bars. On a touring bike you may want to put a bag on the bar and the extra hand room afforded by big looping cables could be what they were after. This is about how I usually cut the ones that are not aero/internal/taped over. These kinda got away from me a little bit, but They're still within the range of acceptable (for me).
Ralphie ★ Posted October 27, 2018 Share #8 Posted October 27, 2018 I'll have to take a look later - I think mine are fairly loopy. Sort of apropos actually.
