The first one looks much more flexible with the possibility of multiple configurations but looks like it would be a bear to park.  The second one looks sleek and efficient - Euro to the max.

Seattle vs Germany.  Stoners vs serious & precise. Hipsters vs hard workers.  You get the point.

They are a the same.  The bike part backs up to the cargo pod and loads it.  After deliveries are made, the bike can drop off the empty pod and get a new one.

Drunk this early in the day??? Jeebus, even without the hour change, you shouldn't be out of your mind already.

Yep.  I was partly correct.  The one in the upper photo has the ability to switch cargo pods from trailers that are parked in it's delivery area.

Not sure about the bottom one.

Then why the callout on Seattle?  Just dissin' your old stomping grounds?

If you dug very deep through all the BS on the UPS site and did some Googling, you'd see this:

  • UPS launches First-of-its-Kind US Urban e-cargo trike delivery – Sure package delivery by cargo bike is de rigueur in Europe, but it’s a pretty big deal that UPS is bringing it stateside too. Partnering with the city of Seattle & Univ. of Washington Freight Lab, UPS is deploying an urban delivery pilot project with a wild pedal-assist cargo e-Trike that works with modular package containers and a custom trailer that can switch from truck to bike delivery as they enter a city center. This isn’t some bike messenger on a fixie, but a huge van replacement for congested, loud city streets. UPS started in 1907 as a bicycle messenger company, and this harkens back to that zero-emissions, human-powered start. Sustainability.UPS.com

I don't dig deeply.  I like to surf butt holes.
