12string Posted November 12, 2018 Share #9 Posted November 12, 2018 so if it's 8 AM for the Easterners and the Westcoasters live that moment at 5AM, aren't they living in the future?

This American researcher (formerly Russian), who does research on the psychology of language and usage, pointed out that how we view the progression of time is directly contingent on whether oiur chosen language is read left to right or right to left on the page. And in fact people with languages that are structured to read vertically tend to order events in that fashion as well. All of this by way of saying that it is dependent on whether you are a native English speaker or a speaker of Mandarin as to how you might view this issue. MickinMD ★ Posted November 13, 2018 Share #11 Posted November 13, 2018 But it gets weird when you keep going west past the coast. The Itinerary for my China tour, which was 10 wonderfully full days but listed as "our 17 day tour" said: Day 1: board plane. Day 2: cross International Date Line They didn't subtract a day when we flew home!
