Prophet Zacharia Posted November 12, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2018 For a phone call at work before you leave your desk/office to do something else? A lady wanted to talk with me (about a ridiculous topic, if you ask me) early this week. I said she could call at 3 pm today, I'd be available. She confirmed she would. I've now waited 11 minutes and counting....

TrentonMakes Posted November 12, 2018 Share #10 Posted November 12, 2018 I was going to say 15 minutes. If you're over 20 I think you're off the hook. 2 minutes ago, Kzoo said: Depends. I'd rather suck it up, deal with her and put the issue to bed. But now it's 26 minutes....

KrAzY Posted November 12, 2018 Share #19 Posted November 12, 2018 I look at it this way, and don't care about other peoples schedules. I am to clock in and out at specific times. Call me back during my operating hours that I am in the shop.. other then that it can not be that urgent
Prophet Zacharia Posted November 12, 2018 Author Share #20 Posted November 12, 2018 I sent an email from home at 5:30 saying I had not heard from her and was gone for the day, and she could email any questions or comments she may have.

sheep_herder ★ Posted November 13, 2018 Share #23 Posted November 13, 2018 I use to have these folks call back at a time when I knew I would be working at my desk and did not mind being interrupted, then waiting was not an inconvenience. If they did not call back, I still accomplished something.
ChrisL Posted November 13, 2018 Share #24 Posted November 13, 2018 I have a desk phone but am rarely at my desk for an hour so I generally leave my cell number if I need a call back. So I wouldn't have waited at all, just move on to the next thing...

sheep_herder ★ Posted November 14, 2018 Share #29 Posted November 14, 2018 Working for Universities and the Feds, I did not have the freedom to avoid and dismiss calls. Those types of things would come back to haunt me. What I did do on occasion would transfer some uncomfortable calls to my last boss, and then wait for him to come tromping down the hall to ask 'What the Hell?'?
