MickinMD ★ Posted November 23, 2018 Share #3 Posted November 23, 2018 I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night. The spicy kielbasa & sauerkraut was fine, maybe I'm excited about that.
Airehead Posted November 23, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 23, 2018 Good morning. I went to bed early and slept lousy. Finally we are meeting with the excavator who has to level the barn site. Yes it is 8 degrees and he wants to meet us in a field at 7:15 when it is barely light.

Airehead Posted November 23, 2018 Share #8 Posted November 23, 2018 I will make sandwiches and cookies for the entire crew. Once the excavator is done it should be quick. I think it will look exactly like your picture but they will need winter coats.

They sneak in on some jobs just to get a free lunch.
Longjohn ★ Posted November 23, 2018 Share #10 Posted November 23, 2018 Somewhere I have pictures I took from my front window as the neighbors worked on the barn at the end of my driveway. It looked like that except they all wore hats. There are a few outsiders in that picture.

Free lunch.

It is my understanding that in some circles, a beard indicates a married man. Unshaven men are also single men. The hat thing is considered to be appropriate dress.
Longjohn ★ Posted November 23, 2018 Share #13 Posted November 23, 2018 I think those guys top right are just there for the free lunch. I have never seen Amish work without their hats and those look more like jeans than Amish pants.

Our Amish are allowed to USE power tools, they just can't own them. We have New Order Amish, their bishop makes the rules for their group.

You can tell by checking the parking lot.
