Road Runner Posted November 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2018 So "they" say. Lettuce is okay now as long as it isn't from So Cal. I saved my big bag of romaine I bought the day before the scare. It is from Mexico. We can trust Mexico, right? I am going to eat some tonight. Ole! 2 1

Yes, nothing can come out badly from a week old food sourced from Mexico.

The best by date is just two days ago. I don't throw out salad stuff until it turns brown and/or gets mushy.

I hope you do not have a "caravan of migrants" fleeing South after eating the Mexican lettuce.

No more than usual, I'm sure. I buy this stuff all the time from BJ's. BJ's wouldn't buy lettuce from So Cal and label it as a product of Mexico, would they? At some point, we have to trust the food chain. I'm certainly not going to start growing my own....

I'm pretty sure that the third wash probably got rid of most of the e coli.

SoCal has a very diverse population base these days. Yeah the Hispanic population is huge but Asian & Pacific Islanders are just as common, especially where I live.

That's the only question that is germane.

Road Runner Posted November 28, 2018 Author Share #14 Posted November 28, 2018 Okay, I just finished eating a big bowl of Mexican Romaine. I understand it takes 1-3 days to develop any symptoms.

MickinMD ★ Posted November 29, 2018 Share #16 Posted November 29, 2018 I don't through stuff out until it's given up the ghost, either. I've still got one meal's big side-dish worth of kielbasa and sauerkraut remaining from Thanksgiving. Sauerkraut lasts forever. The kabossy's fine so far!
