12string Posted November 29, 2018 Share #6 Posted November 29, 2018 (Since this is ending up on P&R anyway) trying to be open minded, I was just thinking about the gun debate this way: all the gun rights activists, all their arguments and reasons to keep their guns, I disagree with a lot of it and don't understand why they think they are making good arguments. Then I imagined the hoops I'd jump through if instead of guns it was hockey sticks, or guitars, or bikes. You can bet I'd cite statistics about how many babies are alive today because some obstetricians play hockey. Or how giving everyone - even untrained people - guitars would save us from a recurrence of music like Abba. Not trying to open the debate, just food for thought. We all have something we'd defend against all odds.

We all have something we'd defend against all odds. I own guns. Long guns. No pistols. I would not have a problem giving up my guns if I thought it would save lives. I don't think it would, but I would gladly give them up if it would. The gun issue is sort of like a bad joke I know. what is the difference between a pregnant woman and a light bulb? You can unscrew the light bulb. Not sure we can unscrew the gun problem in America.
