So the country with the most mismanaged government in the world and worst inflation in recorded history (currently 1.35 MILLION%, according to the IMF) is a valid example?  And our socialistic-supported military is giving out free healthcare?  :scratchhead:

FIFY

It is actually kind of a dictatorship at this point, the recent elections occurred where they banned the opposition parties.  There isn't a worse non-analogous example out there.

Some of you people act like I am saying socialism works, but I am saying that our economy has a HUGE socialist component in terms of defense, police and fire protection, prison systems, government, etc. so why not healthcare?  If other countries can do it, why can't America?   Are their systems perfect?  No.  Is ours?  Hell fucking no with chocolate sauce.   Our system sucks ass if you don't have protections or if you have crappy insurance or loopholes are there to be exploited.    There are lots of loopholes, lots of crappy insurance, and minimal or non-existent true protections, you know.

...I knew a massage therapist from Venezuela once, when I was single.  She was gorgeous, and she had that slight accent that makes a woman seem more exotic.  She got tired of the US and went back to Venezuela.  This was in the 80's, when the oil money was still flowing freely and the middle class was on the rise. " Nicer place to live," she said.

Well that is just silly, and it doesn't factor in any immigration laws of other countries that you have to factor in.  Besides, Venezuela might not want me.

Anyway, it is pretty simplistic to think you can just go to another country and live there forever without an alarming number of conditions that have to be met, it isn't like going from PA to MI.  I know you know this already, because moving to MI is like going to a war zone when you could have moved to Ohio instead.  :P

Btw, I was in Venezuela for a couple of weeks in 1998, and inflation was completely out of control then in a capitalistic economy.  The currency was at 1524 Bolivars per dollar.  I bought beers for everyone at a bar on the main island in Los Roques, two rounds.  It cost $24 total, and I was a hero.  Chavez took over about 5 years later and REALLY messed things up.  His hand-picked successor really screwed the pooch even worse.  I think I would be kidnapped or killed within hours of touching down now, and I think all the hot chicks have moved out of the country.

Don't forget our socialist post office, our socialist parks, our socialist education -- and as you mention -- our socialist military.

I worked for a guy that went there a few times a year to hit on the ladies, but he was a skeezball pervert of the worst kind.  He did fill my head with stories of the most beautiful women imaginable, so much so that it couldn't be real.  He was right.  They were sweeties, too, great attitudes and happier than American chicks.  I met one the first day there and island hopped with her for a couple of weeks, totally hot and very cool.  She was actually Columbian.

You are a socialist commie anti-uncle Samite!  I banish you to MI!!!!

Heh heh...  You are lucky not to be banished to NJ, count your blessings.

There is no perfect system that works in all cases.

Nope.  There is no perfect system and I'm not a socialist.  But I laugh my ass off when I read folks still subscribing to the Invisible Hand theory.

SS is a socialist benefit, as is medicare, and unemployment.  These are good things for the greater good.

Although, I guess we can just keep the corporate tax cuts rolling so fat CEOs can continue having nice bonuses.

Don't forget.  US citizens were the most prosperous when corporate taxes were much higher.  Just saying.

We could talk football.  I mean, your Steelers go down -- and I'm afraid it's time my Seahags do too.

The last time I looked 'our' Steelers were in first place in their division and the Seahawks (worst logo in sports) we 3.5 games out.

No, no, no.  You have this all wrong.  It's about individual rights 'trumping' the greater good.  Oh and guns.

Democracy isn't … you don't like it, leave.  It is to fight or push for what you believe to be best.

Seems like folks only like democracy when it's a system favoring them.  I suspect this is the curse of man.

Unions, too, thanks for jogging my memory.  If you were in a union or benefited from one, that is totally socialist commie bastardland territory.

The Browns are actually coming on and look like they will do ok in the future.  Hard to believe, but the difference between the Bengals and the Steelers is really not that far right now.

I think a lot of it comes from having a two-party system.  You have extremists on each side messing things up, where the middle is where most people are anyway.

I do wish it were a 3 party system.  Just like our founding father's envisioned when they created the 3 branches of government.  At least then it'd be a system of somewhat better checks and balances.  Right now, both sides are the devil.

Don't forget the huge socialist bailout when the automobile industry almost tanked.  Socialism is always a bad word until they need a bailout.

Reference?

ok.  i can see I could have been clearer in my context.  I am not suggesting the founding fathers wanted us to have 3 political parties.  I am suggesting that we'd be better served with 3 political parties mimicking the 3 branches of government... as those branches are designed to be in check.

Not the way I read your words.  Please be clearer in your context next time.

Let me help you clear this up then.  The word cleared in your post.  The one I underlined....  yes that one.  Whatever you meant there by clearer - do that.

You dolt.  Transparent.  As in, your ideas communicated in writing should be transparent.

If your 'brian' still has trouble with that go with this (just don't huff it or you will have other 'brian' issues)
