So how much have you ridden this year?

Did you reach your goal(s)?

I planned to ride at least 3K, but it looks like I'll be lucky to get 2,700.  2,554 so far.

Wow you were riding your bike while missing in action from the forums. You were pretty discouraged bout riding before you left. Injuries and persistent aches and pains that were crash related seemed to be making you wonder it it was worth it to continue to ride. I was already wondering the same thing about myself. After one orthopedic surgeon said he was unable to help me with my shoulder injuries I could still ride but was unable to swim. I wonder what abilities I might lose on the next crash. My PCP hooked me up with a shoulder specialist that did surgery that got my shoulder working again.

I rode my bike this summer but less miles than I have in the last 13 years. No century rides this year, two 60 mile organized rides and maybe a dozen thirty something mile rides around the neighborhood. I did a lot of lake kayak miles this year. I’ve never crashed a kayak.

I don't track my miles so really don't know. Rode the mountain bike(s) a lot this year so goal accomplished.  Did 2 mtn bike races and did pretty well in both.  Rode the road bike some as well.

Not much riding the last month with weddings and holidays but edgy to get back on the bike.

I really don’t crash that much, an average of maybe once every five years. The problem is I don’t fare well in crashes like I used to when I raced motorcycles. I’m tired of broken bones.

I guess one of my problems is that I usually ride in traffic, and not in the safest areas and not always in the safest manner.

I decided after riding 7000 miles last year that I was going to leave the garmin off the bike and just let it be fun.  Yes, sometimes I rode hard but have no distance or speed measurements.  With the dog training I know it was not nearly as much as last year.  Would guess somewhere between 2000 and 2500 miles. Not much at all on the road bike  It wasn't much of a rode bike this year.  The fargo and mukluk were the rode bikes.

I was having a very good year until I hurt my knee running in early October. I even did my first century ride in 3 years. I'll probably wind up with only 3500 miles when I was shooting for 4K.

Speaking of running (actually more like walking), I signed up for 4 half marathons but only completed one. One was during cold, very wet weather and I wimped out. My daughter says that she wished that she did. The other two were in November after my knee injury.

I have only been riding twice a week for several months now since I started back with serious riding.  Some weeks it's only 26 miles.  Some weeks it's 45 miles.  But rather than just pedal around it's been as fast as I can go, so my average speed is up 2-3mph (16-18mph). Last time I checked the ODO it was around 425.  I guess the computer is still on the bike, as I haven't seen it since the crash.  For that matter I don't know what shape it's in at all, but as the hip heals I'll get to it and get it ready for when I'm all healed up.

I'll finish the year at a bit over 4k total miles - mostly road (~3,300) and then commuter (~750).  Since I don't track commuting or errand miles, it is a WAG, and I really only set a "goal" based on the tracked mileage.  I actually don't set a mileage goal as much as a "ride as much as possible & still fun" goal.  Sadly, this year with its RECORD BREAKING rainfall :( - most on weekends - I was not able to ride as much as I wanted to.  I don't mind riding in rainy and wet conditions in the warmer months, but rain/sleet in winter and early spring sucks.

2,469 for the year, Down from last year's 4,563, but the weather has been crappy (record rainfall), the wife moved back east last year and I'm working six days a week. Sunday is my free day. I'm seriously thinking of quitting the LBS job to get my Saturday's back.

For 2019, I'm looking at finally scratching the GAP/C&O canal itch for my 60th b-day celebration. It will be around Memorial Day at the end of May. Six days of ~60 miles each.
