Chris... Posted January 4, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2019 A tanker driver put diesel in the unleaded tank by mistake at the gas station I go to. I actually got gas there yesterday, but my car takes premium. https://www.wcia.com/news/local-news/diesel-mix-up-at-pumps-damages-vehicles/1685993882
donkpow Posted January 4, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2019 I have never really thought about it but would think that the tanker nozzle would be different for different types of fuel.
Road Runner Posted January 4, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 4, 2019 That same thing happened about two months ago here. Maybe they need to install some hardware on the tanks/fill hoses that would prevent this. It caused a lot of grief here when it happened. It was on the local news for about a week, it seemed. JerrySTL ★ Posted January 4, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 4, 2019 I had a new car filled up with a lot of mud and water in 1978. Construction near the gas station put a hole in the underground tank. It happened in Cincinnati and I was living near St. Louis. The car made it to my home but I had to floor it to about 80 mph then coast down to 40 mph the last few miles as the car wouldn't run at 60 mph. What really pissed me off was that the gas company didn't take responsibility. I had to take them to small claims court. I had the receipt for the gas; bill for the repairs; the clear plastic gas filter filled with mud; and my brother took photos of the gas station and construction. The gas station sent 2 lawyers but they had nothing. When the judge found out that I was in the military and had to take leave to go to court, he basically gave me everything that I asked for plus added some other things to bring it up to the maximum amount allowed in the small claims court of Ohio. 2
