best tip ever

Recommended Posts

Excellent tip, even if it is a little below the old standard of 15%!

Have you noticed the transformation in restaurants from 15% standard tips to 18%?  Sometimes they add it directly to the bill and sometimes it's even mentioned on the menus.

I wish we had a system like France and many other countries where the price for the food on the menu includes the tip and tax: if it says 25 Euros, your total bill is 25 Euros.

I'm surprised no one has ever sued for having to pay a "sales" tax when it's not the seller but the buyer paying it!  It should be called a "Buyers Tax."

Hard to judge the tip without knowing the service quality or the service type.  Pretty much EVERY restaurant receipt now has a "tip" line on the receipt.  I get take-out all the time at lunch - salad at Cosi, a sandwich at Corner Bakery, tacos at bartaco, etc..  I don't tip.  Maybe I'm cheap, but I'm not tipping for no "extra" service.  A waiter provides extra service. A delivery person surely does. Even a bartender can provide extra service.

Three one dollar bills, a dime, and four pennies!

Or one three dollar bill and a dime and four worthless pennies. I still have a three dollar bill with Bill Clinton's picture on it.

I now understand the "remember the good old days" mentality :)
