Popular Post Rattlecan ★ Posted January 20, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 20, 2019 Still doing some bike work and wheel building, but it's pretty sporadic, and sometimes I go weeks with no revenue generation. So, early in the fall, I took my resume to a bunch of local car dealerships to apply for a position as a part time courtesy shuttle driver. In October, one of the dealers called me up and offered me a job running the shuttle on Saturdays. It's a nice, low stress job, get to meet lots of people and visit while I shuttle them home, and go back later to pick them up. I've had some extra shifts to fill in during the week when the regular drivers needed some time off, and also ran their parts express for a few days. I think I'll stick with it at least until spring, and see where I go with it after that. It's been fun so far. 10
Scrapr ★ Posted January 20, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 20, 2019 That is my plan exactly. Get to drive nice(er) cars and hang around drinking bad coffee and I joke with our truck mechanic I'm going to be a parts runner for him. 2

Well, the car I drive ain't too bad, but I think it's more to make the point to customers of the durability of their cars than a showcase for their new products. It's a five year old hybrid, but it still looks good, and runs great.
BuffJim Posted January 20, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2019 That’s one of the 4 retirement gigs I’ve got in mind. Also Author, Wine tasting room worker, or Compliance consultant.

There is a Keurig machine in the customer's lounge with about a dozen varieties of coffee and tea. One of my jobs is to ensure the coffee bins are stocked, and there is enough cups and lids.

Constantly having to replace them as they keep dropping dead from heart attacks from the over exertion. Gotta get heart healthy when you are younger so the ticker holds up in retirement.
Rattlecan ★ Posted January 20, 2019 Author Share #13 Posted January 20, 2019 The job entails other duties as well, such as the previously mentioned tending to the coffee supplies. Another part of it is running customer's vehicles out of the drive through check in bays to the service staging area, It almost always entails shifting the seat back so I can even get in, and I'm on the short side of average height. I have no idea how people can get in and out with the seat so far forward.

Eventually you would just have to press the button Just make it button #3. I think most folks use buttons #1 &2.
