See if they develop some of the local language quirks like "It's over yonder," or "I reckon" that I often heard when I used to visit that area where an uncle-by-marriage's relatives lived.

Maryland college friends of mine from Pennsylvania used to tease us Marylanders of certain language butchering like, "Ahm goan downy Awshun" meaning: "I'm going down to the ocean."

But they got jobs in Texas after college, came back to visit a year later and we laughed and laughed at their southern accents and word quirks.
