shootingstar Posted February 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2019 Last night we went to evening lecture on Winter Cities. Bunch of ideas and implementations of what is done in cold winter snowy cities to bring people outside, become more active..and hence, socialize, be less depressed/isolated. Architectural contests for warming huts (Winnipeg), freeing a huge river pathway over 8 km. for skating (Winnipeg which beats out Ottawa), snowball fight, etc., library providing on-site special light for SAAD people So our city is having its 3rd annual winter night glowfest…. creative outdoor artsy lighting installations at different locations in downtown area. So we will go....if it's not -20 degrees or lower.
maddmaxx ★ Posted February 7, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2019 IMO they should put public tunnels under the city with running and riding paths.
Longjohn ★ Posted February 7, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2019 I know nothing about cities but we had a winter carnival at a state park last weekend. It’s where I did the polar plunge. They had an ice fishing contest, hay rides, a polar train ride for the kids, sledding and a bunch of other stuff. I was just there for the plunge.
