donkpow Posted February 17, 2019 Share #15 Posted February 17, 2019 When tv news reports talk of California droughts and dropping lake levels, the saline Mono Lake gets a lot of air time. Interesting formations.

I know a guy that probably got the call to put the train back on the track ...my stepfather used to be the only guy who could operate the big steam crane they used out of Union Station in D.C. to clear their derailments. I don't know who they got after he retired, because the thing always looked pretty complicated to me. It's a museum piece now. 1
Scrapr ★ Posted February 27, 2019 Share #21 Posted February 27, 2019 I used to tailgate next to a company owner that got called all over the Western US to "fix" derailments. I don't know how he did it, what kind of tools you would take in there or anything. I just knew his entire pick up bed had liquor and he was pouring freely
MickinMD ★ Posted February 27, 2019 Share #22 Posted February 27, 2019 There was a newspaper cartoon once with a drawing of a "Donner Party Snow Globe." I don't think anyone ever made a real one.
