Chopped Liver Posted May 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2014 Multi billion dollar company....I'm on vacation next week. They are starting to realize I have them by the short hairs.....one SQL developer to support the finance dept. Serves them right for the way I've been "reviewed" the past 2 years. Chopped Liver Posted May 23, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted May 23, 2014 As one former boss once told me while looking me square in the eyes, "No one is indispensable." This isn't a case of indispensible....it's a case of "we need this next week". Me:"Sorry....I'm out of the country on my 25th anniversary. My phone will not be on.....this has been public knowledge since January when I cleared the time with mgt. and booked the trip."

I know that feeling. Almost the last 3-4 years at my old employer were like that. My manager was a 'hardware' guy and his expectations were waaaay out of whack for what a software guy was supposed to do. I was constantly being reviewed poorly because he didn't understand what I 'should' be doing. He'd give me goals that just made no sense for software development.
