Popular Post Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted March 12, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted March 12, 2019 At the bike shop last night. Jens Voigt meet and greet. About 70 people showed up to hear him talk about his life, family and racing career. Very nice guy and entertaining speaker. He signed books, jerseys, posters, even someone’s bike.
Popular Post Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted March 12, 2019 Author Popular Post Share #2 Posted March 12, 2019 The owners set up two sixtel kegs of local beer; an IPA and a porter. My first task after clocking in was to tap the kegs and get the beer ready to serve. All that training paid off! 3
Popular Post Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted March 12, 2019 Author Popular Post Share #3 Posted March 12, 2019 After the event wound down and we cleaned up, the owner took us all down the street to Vienna Inn where we had a few beers and Jens ate his first chili dog. At least that’s what he said. He was drinking Coronas until we talked him into a Faceplant IPA from Lost Rhino. He seemed to like it. Great evening and I got four hours pay for it too. 5

Frankie said you could walk up to Jens for the first time and he'd treat you like you were a friend. Frankie is really nice also. I like how these people aren't full of themselves. They're just people

I think using a fan bike to complete a tour stage was an indication of his professionalism and humility. Lots of pros would have smashed their bike and stormed off the course.

He told Jens that in his mind he (RBC guy) was the greatest cyclist in the world. Jens signed his poster, "to the greatest cyclist in the world". I doubt he remembered his commute home on the W&OD last night. If you showed up, we would've let you in.
