Mr. Silly Posted October 7, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2013 I've watched about 10 minutes of football in the last 3 weeks. 10 minutes of football comes down to about 3 plays. PBS has been showing The Hollow Crown on Sunday afternoons. The Hollow Crown is a group of 4 historic Shakespearian plays, Richard II, Henry the IV parts 1 and 2 and Henry the V. The plays are very well done. Since they're filmed they can cut to scenes, add music and change camera angles which make the plays, IMO, more accessible. I am truly looking forward to Henry V next Sunday.

Mr. Silly Posted October 7, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted October 7, 2013 I would like to participate in this thread but I do not know what to say. You can always sound smart by quoting a couple lines of Shakespeare. Neat trick, randomly select a speech were someone speaks more than 10 lines, highlight 3 or 4 of them and post them. You'll sound like you're "in the know" and all readers will say to themselves, "ahhhh.. yes." And by the royalties of both your bloods,Currents that spring from one most gracious head,And by the buried hand of warlike Gaunt,And by the worth and honour of himself Richard II - Act III Scene III Here is a link to the full text of King Lear. Find a longish speech and try it out.
Nate Posted October 7, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2013 just ask yourself...would you rather see the last act of a despirate Giants team, or the first act of Henry V?

12string Posted February 11, 2020 Share #9 Posted February 11, 2020 Henry is only up to V. Football is up to LIV. Pretty obvious which one is more popular.
Mr. Silly Posted February 11, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted February 11, 2020 My brain I'll prove the female to my soul, My soul the father; and these two beget A generation of still-breeding thoughts, And these same thoughts people this little world, In humours like the people of this world, For no thought is contented. The better sort, As thoughts of things divine, are intermix'd With scruples and do set the word itself Against the word Richard II Act 5, Scene
