Ralphie ★ Posted March 31, 2019 Share #9 Posted March 31, 2019 We should require die by dates instead of best by.
MickinMD ★ Posted March 31, 2019 Share #10 Posted March 31, 2019 I think wheat products way past expiration definitely should get tossed, but I've been tempted when it's something sweet like brownies, etc. Some products have a "best used by" date and don't really become bad. I know it's not going to wreck my finances to replace them with new stuff, but once you develop a do-not-waste attitude, it's hard to toss the old stuff. Congratulations for doing it! I recently found a chuck roast hidden in the back of my freezer for two and half years. I pressure cooked it in a mushroom soup-based mixture to make mushroom gravy and it came out slightly tough but good tasting.
