petitepedal ★ Posted April 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2019 Started work in February...worked 6.5 days...missed a step, fell and has been on Workers comp the last 39.5 days...and counting. Who knows if he will ever be back I am not sure the reception will be a warm one..even the residents are commenting about him now.... I was not part of the selection process...but he sure wasn't my choice....It seems my hunch was true. 1 1

AirwickWithCheese Posted April 9, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 9, 2019 In fairness, March can be a stressful month. Respectfully, Cheese

I'd hire a PI and have him sit outside the guy's house for a week. Sure, he is likely as not to just be at home watching TV and surfing porn on the web as he is to actually be out and about, but there is a chance you catch him shooting hoops or wandering the mall spending his "paycheck".
12string Posted April 9, 2019 Share #8 Posted April 9, 2019 A friend of mine used to do that kind of PI work. Most of his targets turned out to be cheating

Seriously, why wouldn't someone forking out a paycheck via workman's comp NOT hire a PI and try to nip the nonsense in the bud? It actually would be refreshing to see the guy was honest, and you made a good choice hiring him in the first place. Otherwise, he comes back and what??? You never trust him again? I remember when I was a kid working at a grocery store. I stepped on an exposed nail on a pallet, and the nail hit bone So, I'm gushing blood (not in much pain, though), and the manager was like "can you keep working and finish your shift?" Luckily, there was a 24 hr Emergency place a short distance away, and I drove my self there (stick shift, no less), and they cleaned it, bandaged it, and gave me a tetanus shot. As they were handing me the bill, someone asked how it happened, and when the heard "work", the bill disappeared and some different - far better - paperwork appeared. Workman's comp! I actually only had them pay for the emergency visit, and was working my next shift.

2Far ★ Posted April 9, 2019 Share #16 Posted April 9, 2019 Welcome to my world. Post accident drug test? Sprained ankle should be healed, can he work with a thumb cast on? @Indy: you're a desk jockey, not an actual worker. Surveillance is certainly indicated.

MickinMD ★ Posted April 9, 2019 Share #18 Posted April 9, 2019 A guy who grew up with me on our block drifted from one job to another, doing all he could to collect workers comp or unemployment in between jobs for months at a time. A friend of my brother's had his own 2-3 man electrician business and used to brag that he didn't have to pay into Social Security. I asked him what retirement savings vehicle he substituted for Soc.Sec. and he looked at me like I was crazy. Both are now in their 60's with close to $0 assets between them and set for miserable retirements - if they can retire.

These are good investigations as they are generally day time jobs. Nailed every one of them too! I have had a few workers Comp matters but the ones that annoy the hell out of me are the ones you hire and they start making demands you can’t grant. Higher Pay, preferential shift, benefits not offered, my supervisor is harassing me etc. The next thing you know a letter comes in the mail from their attorney. I had a person on the phone being coached by I assume was their legal counsel once. I could hear the person framing the questions while on speaker phone... So I’m being terminated for being a black female? No, you are not even being terminated but reassigned. So it’s true I’m losing pay & benefits with this reassignment? No you are on paid leave and if you accept this assignment will retain your same pay & benefits. So it’s true I’m being reassigned because of my sex and race? No... It went like this for a few minutes and I told her I’m not having this discussion any longer and she’d hear from our attorneys if I’m being recorded. We still got sued...
