Further Posted April 28, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 28, 2019 I like Famous Dave's, Devil's Spit commercial sauce. My new favorite take out BBQ joint ( Dominic's in Greensburg, Pa. ) makes a vinegar (Carolina mopping sauce) sauce that I really like. The 2 of them 1/2 & 1/2 is my new all time favorite sauce. It's a lot like crack but it tastes good. Gonna have to experiment on how to make this from scratch.
smudge Posted April 28, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 28, 2019 I've heard of Dave's, but everyone seems enamored with Sweet Baby Ray's. It's ok, but predictable.

The Devil Spit is pretty warm and not as sweet as Baby Ray's. Add the vinegar and it takes on a new personality.

While I had been doing rubs on chicken, pork chops, etc getting away from BBQ sauce, for variety went back to Sweet Baby Rays and was kind of blah. donkpow Posted April 28, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 28, 2019 I don't know specifically but BBQ sauces from the store seem to be full of sweeteners.

petitepedal Posted April 28, 2019 Share #9 Posted April 28, 2019 I blend Famous Dave's (local) Sweet & Sassy with Ken Davis (also local) Original...it ends up a lightly smokey blend.
