BuffJim Posted May 13, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 13, 2019 I've heard of her. Some sort of show business type who made it 97 years old. Cheese probably had feelings for her. 2

Popular Post Airehead Posted May 13, 2019 Popular Post Share #4 Posted May 13, 2019 Sad but 97 is a good run. She was the top female box office draw of the 1950s and early ’60s. Her hit songs at the time were radio mainstays. She defined sunny, all-American wholesomeness. And on Monday, May 13, at age 97, Doris Day died after contracting a serious case of pneumonia, she left behind a legacy of some 600 songs, 39 feature films, and five seasons of her own television show. Summing up her buoyant persona many years ago, she said: “I like joy. I want to be joyous. I want to have fun on the set. I want to wear beautiful clothes and look pretty. I want to smile and I want to make people laugh. And that’s all I want. I like it. I like being happy. I want to make others happy.” 4

Kirby Posted May 13, 2019 Share #6 Posted May 13, 2019 She was quite devoted to animal charities and her Doris Day Animal Foundation did a lot of good. She dedicated a lot of her post-acting life to the Foundation.

Road Runner Posted May 13, 2019 Share #8 Posted May 13, 2019 Just think of all that she was a witness to and how much the world changed in her lifetime, from the 1920's to almost 2020.

Popular Post jsharr ★ Posted May 13, 2019 Popular Post Share #14 Posted May 13, 2019 Doris is 50 in this pic, here is a bit of the back story Doris Day was 50 years of age when she donned this bikini back in the 1970's. It was for an episode in the 5th season of her highly popular CBS comedy series, "The Doris Day Show". I wrote her a letter after watching the show telling her that she could give Raquel Welch a run for her money. Her response that followed a week or so later, was in the typical Doris Day modestly, unassuming manner. "Actually it's just about taking care of myself on a regular basis. I watch what I eat and swim and ride my bike whenever time permits." Like all of the advice Doris has given me over the many years that I have known her, it was spot-on.

MickinMD ★ Posted May 13, 2019 Share #16 Posted May 13, 2019 Sorry to hear of her passing. You can't complain if they lived in wealth and esteem to age 97. I loved her movies and our family watched her TV show regularly back in the days of three major networks. Calamity Jane and Pillow Talk are her best rated movies, but her biggest influence on culture is probably the use of "Que sera, sera," (What will be, will be,) as a common English expression that began after her hit song and movie of the same name she starred in with Jimmy Stewart. For a while it was a big thing. I can still see in my mind's eye Barney Fife, trying to look sophisticated, saying on the Andy Griffith Show, "Que sera, sera, Andy. Que sera, sera."

groupw Posted May 13, 2019 Share #19 Posted May 13, 2019 I remember her TV show. I thought she was pretty. Seems she was on Dinah Shore’s show a few times after that. Their obit on NPR mentioned her 4 unhappy marriages including physical abuse and theft of her money by a couple ex’s.
