Good news

I still can't wrap my head around this:

In the weeks before graduating from Morehouse on Sunday, 22-year-old finance major Aaron Mitchom drew up a spreadsheet to calculate how long it would take him to pay back his $200,000 in student loans — 25 years at half his monthly salary, per his calculations.

According to the Morehouse, TOTAL tuition is ($14k/semester * 2 semesters ) * 4yrs = $112k.  Add in $3,755/sem for housing ($30k/4yrs), $3k/sem for unlimited food ($24k/4 yrs), and there is another $36,000 to cover fees and books and or maybe one more year?  $40k/yr if going for five years.  Amazing.

Fake news to garner sympathy.  I dont mnow about all the numbers, but 3K/sem for food?

My son is in his last year of school, and keeps a detailed budget.  He was just telling me over 4 years his food budget was under $1000/sem.  Actually it worked out to $8.50 a day.  And he eats nothing pre-made.  Cooks all his own food from scratch.  (All he wanted for Christmas was a puzza stone, tupperware containers and an instant pot.)

I am not sure how accurate these are or  if the numbers were rounded up to be 'safe'

You don't read the links?  "Meal plans" have been around since my days, so I imagine their still useful to some folks? Especially those in dorms without kitchens.

Of  course, if you go for something with a kitchen to offset the food costs, the price goes up for the "Housing" part of the equation:

Read the Links?? I normally comment without even reading the posts.

But again, meal plans and living on campus are worst case scenarios.  Me, my wife and all three kids did the university thing and none of us stayed on campus for all of our years at school.  It was just too bloody expensive.  In fact I dont know anyone that lived on campus for their full schooling.  (And no, I still have not read the link)

Nominated

Normal behavior is nomination material???  No one here reads links or posts.  It is well established and certainly documented.

It is why jsharr is such a great guy.  Most of his links go to NSFW porn that reward the few folks here who do try to dig a little deeper.

Imagine how Mr. Smith felt after just reading off the teleprompter and not really knowing what his ex speech writer wrote?  Talk about payback for giving the speech writer the Jelly of the Month club membership for Christmas.
