Want your 2 cents on this.

They had this women who was saying porn was warping the piss out of teens. She was saying they got a bigger jolt from aggressive porn than from the real thing, or heroin, for that matter.

I am dubious, but I was curious if you guys were seeing a lot of 14 year old rapists.

Why are you dubious?

I'd say there is a definite links to bad outcomes when we "mainstream" certain behaviors.  Humans, though, are complex creatures, and times change, so it's likely just a blip on the radar when judged against thousands of years of humanity on record.  Sexbots will surely change things.

You don't have to be a 14 yo rapists (I like how you again make a huge leap from facts to your reality) to have you brain rewired by porn.  Or to have your view of women warped.  What you do as a 14 yo that frequents/supports porn is continue the cycle of sex trafficking.  The vast majority of females involved with the production of porn are not there under their own will.

Boy that's scary............. for you.

I was just thinking all kinds of surreal expectations generated from this on both sides of the coin. Poor bastards don't know how to form relationships. They stare into their phones and don't know how to be intimate without flying crazed monkey sex devoid of feeling.

I'm really glad I don't have kids. PITA.

It is "the cycle of sex trafficking" that is a bit at the crux of the doubt he may be experiencing with the report. We know going back as far as we can remember there have been prostitutes and slaves.  So, while the medium that perpetuates it may be relatively "new" (online porn's pervasiveness in our culture and thus worldwide), is it actually having some greater impact than earlier ways that women & humans in general are dehumanized or treated immorally?

Google the crap that is going on with South Koreans and dating (or lack thereof).  It is a NIGHTMARE.

Of course, on the flipside, I gotta imagine a lot of popular culture which has "empowered" girls and women is also having a big impact.  Why should a college educated professional woman or a hard working female RN or a skilled female technician settle for someone not at her "level" of seriousness? That worked back in the keep them barefoot and pregnant days, but sort of sucks for some dudes now.

1) It's called skepticism.

2) Adaptation, and it's constant. It's an interesting metaphor, but there are always metaphors like that.

3) That's understandable. But that sounds a lot like kids growing up. You can go back a century and find warped views with no effort whatsoever.

4) The best way to attack sex trafficking is to make prostitution legal so you can regulate it. Drain the swamp and it's easy to see the gators.

5) Kinda doubt that. Watch a Youtube of a porn convention in Vegas.

Don't take this personally. I've got a degree in Psych, and as such, I've seen a lot of studies that can't stand scrutiny.

Clearly, this is something to be concerned about, and looked into. but so far I am not persuaded.

Why not just everybody charge for sex?  Who needs families?  No need for relationships anymore.  You want sex?  Give me $50.  Sterilize the planet and just have orgasms -- and get paid for it.

A marriage is a contract. Dating is a form of barter.

Sterilizing the planet isn't a sane option.

While we are all looking for a sex partner, there's way more than just spoogin'.  So I disagree with that premise.  It leaves out a whole lot of stuff.

Nope.

It's a form of barter. If you want to nail it down, you sign the contract.

Disagreement is funny, but futile.

At one point.."Porn" was your Dad's stack of Playboy magazines..or something similar..some of them got a little well...stranger..wilder whatever...but it was still more or less a magazine..unless you went to the XXX movie house or massage parlor...which wasn't necessarily easy for a kid to do..... Now it is online and easily available...and some of it is violent and some of it is way strange....  Kids who spend time watching/viewing that stuff....can be more exposed to that kind of sex than say a healthy loving relationship that they see their parents, relatives or friends families experiencing...

Not on a date. Not when I lived with my wife for 3 years before I married her. Indeed, disagreement is fertile.

You are implying your relationship wasn't economic, while you were sharing the costs of living together.

Amusing, silly.

Good to know you're in a sexual contract with your wife. Didja get a good rate?

Marriage is a contract involving sex. Fact 'o Life...

Dating is  barter, you trade meals, movies, flora and candy for the expectation of eventually getting laid.

That other things are going on doesn't change the nature of the ritual.

I have the impression you started this silliness in response to my comment that we should legalize prostitution.

Don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine (or serve the time)!

But seriously, @Kzoo point was valid as was @petitepedal comment.

At some point, maybe folks will be correct that today's kids are going to hell in a handbasket, but I'm thinking it is more a slow spiral over many (countless?) generations before we are done in.  Of course, there have already been countless generations of humans, so it might be just about time.

Your fence is imaginary.

Economics is something we all have in common.

I am dubious, but I was curious if you guys were seeing a lot of 14 year old rapists.

When I taught high school, the female athletes I coached in softball and cross country would inform me about situations where guys were jerks, but it was more along the lines of a guy wanting a sexual act from a girl and then breaking up with her after her had scored.  I didn't hear about rapists, though that might have been something that wouldn't have been communicated to me because they knew I'd have to report it to the School Administration and Social Services.

That tracks with my experience, as well.

I don't believe any of that.  If you watch a lot of porn, your view of porn stars might be warped, but porn stars are not part of everyday live real life experience, so they are not "women" by any means, just a very specific subset of behaviors (typically kinda gross ones).  Watching porn and sex trafficking?  I would have to see lots of evidence of this, those chicks get paid to take it up the butt by single-tusked walruses and sub-saharan eskimos simultaneously.  I would accept that a lot of porn "actresses" are pretty damn psycho or are on drugs or both, or they need money (like most people) and porn paid the most for the least amount of time and effort.  This is easy math if you are a short-term thinker who doesn't know or care that their neighbor or spouse may spot them 20 years from now doing a whole basketball team in a hot tub.  So yeah, some are being taken advantage of, and some just need a job, and some work the system and make lawyer money or more.

So why is no one concerned about male porn stars being taken advantage of?

It doesn’t matter if you believe it or not.  You belief one way or the other doesn’t change the truth.  Support of porn supports young girls hooked on drugs being trafficked for your entertainment.

Simply saying something is truth does not make it so.

I am not saying all porn is an above the board proposition or that is isn't pretty skeezy overall (it seems to be), but blanket statements like that are overly broad.  You simply don't know the motivations of the actors and actresses, how crazy they would have to be to do that kind of work, if they are high, or if they just like getting it on with amputees for money.  In 'murica, you have the freedom to do whatever on camera for money, some sort of capitalism thing.  Entrenched capitalism sure seems to take advantage of others pretty regularly, why should skeevy entertainment be any different?
