MickinMD ★ Posted June 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2019 Is this standard for U.S. Post Office mailboxes everywhere? I rarely mail anything bigger than a letter, so I got a surprise when I tried to put the little, about 3" x 4" x l", box with my ancestry.com DNA vial in the mail. It had prepaid postage. I stopped at a community mailbox and the slot was about 1/2" wide at max. and it wouldn't fit. So I drove to the post office and tried to put it in the mail slots in the hallway. Still too small. So I had to stand in line to go to the counter and said, "I'm sorry for wasting your time but I couldn't find any mailbox where I could put this tiny box." The worker said, "It got to the point where huge packages were being put in them and using up all the space." Then she asked, "Is this an ancestry DNA test? Isn't it a lot of fun?"

jdc2000 Posted June 19, 2019 Share #3 Posted June 19, 2019 How big was that US Post Office? They should have a drop chute for packages, unless your USPS workers are even more disgruntled than the ones in my area.
